Dysphasia Recipes – Summer Thickened Popsicles
According to the National Center of Biotechnology Information (NCBI), the prevalence of dysphagia in persons 50 years of age and older is between 15-22%. This can make receiving proper nutrition and maintaining emotional well-being large hurdles for those with dysphagia. Therefore, dysphasia recipes are very important.
We’ve created this recipe and tutorial for tasty and satisfying summery freeze pops for our loved ones dealing with dysphagia!
What You’ll Need:
This recipe serves 2-4 people, depending on how much you can hold back!
1 scoop of Ice Cream
We used local ice cream, Made by Marcus, Tahiti Vanilla Bean.
1 cup of Fruit
We used a mixture of frozen peaches and mangoes.
400 ml of Water
Plain and simple!
Ice Pop Molds
We ordered these reusable ones from Amazon.
- Add in all ingredients to a blender; if you have an upright blender, add the ThickenUp first. If you have a blender that goes in upside down, add it in last to avoid clumping.
- Blend until completely smooth. I let my blender run for 1 minute which was perfect.
- Pour the liquid into your ice pop molds. Stick them in the freezer.
